Giving Someone a Chance

Sometimes a heart arrives quietly,
Not with grand promises or perfect words,
But with a simple hope
To be seen for who they truly are.

Giving someone a chance
Is not about ignoring their flaws,
For we all carry scars,
Mistakes, and unfinished chapters.

It is choosing curiosity over judgment,
Grace over assumptions,
And possibility over fear.

A chance is not a guarantee,
But neither is walking away.
Every friendship,
Every love,
Every meaningful connection
Began because someone decided,
“Maybe this person is worth knowing.”

Some people enter our lives
To teach us lessons.
Others arrive to stay.
But we never discover which is which
If we close the door before they knock.

Giving someone a chance
Means allowing them the space
To show their character,
Their kindness,
Their heart,
Beyond first impressions and past mistakes.

It means remembering
That none of us would want
To be defined by our worst day,
Our greatest failure,
Or the chapter we have already outgrown.

The greatest opportunities in life
Often wear the disguise of uncertainty.
The greatest relationships
Often begin with a simple act of faith.

So before you decide
That someone is not worth your time,
Pause for a moment.

You may be standing at the doorway
Of a friendship that changes your life,
A love that heals your heart,
Or a blessing you never saw coming.

Sometimes all a person needs
Is one chance.

And sometimes,
That one chance
Changes everything.
