If You Can’t Be Honest, Get Out of My Life

If you can’t be honest, then walk away,
Don’t waste my time another day.
I’ve carried enough of the weight of lies,
Seen too many truths hidden behind disguises.

I don’t need perfection, I don’t need fame,
I don’t need excuses or someone to blame.
I only ask for words that are true,
A heart that’s real in all that you do.

Trust is fragile, it doesn’t bend,
Once it’s broken, it’s hard to mend.
A lie may comfort for a moment or two,
But the truth always finds its way through.

So if your stories change with the tide,
Or you keep your intentions hidden inside,
Then save us both from the inevitable strife,
And simply get out of my life.

Because I’d rather stand alone and free,
Than share my world with dishonesty.
Peace is worth more than empty replies,
And self-respect is stronger than lies.

The people I keep are genuine and true,
Their actions match the words they pursue.
If honesty isn’t something you can give,
Then you’re not someone with whom I wish to live.

So take your secrets and your disguise,
Your half-truths and carefully crafted lies.
My door is open—but only for those
Whose character shines and whose integrity shows.

If you can’t be honest, don’t stay and pretend.
Don’t call yourself a lover, a partner, or a friend.
For truth is the foundation on which relationships thrive—
And without it, you have no place in my life.
