The History of Veterans Day

Originally established in 1919 to honor the veterans of that war, the day was later expanded in 1954 to recognize all American veterans, after the sacrifices made in World War II and the Korean War. President Dwight D. Eisenhower officially changed the name to Veterans Day, ensuring that all who served would be honored equally.
